Welcome Phase 2 Trainees!

Brainspotting with Katherine Allen, LMFT Posted on October 19, 2020 by Katherine AllenOctober 19, 2020

We did it again! We completed our latest ONLINE Brainspotting Phase 2 training. We had trainees from the US, Canada, Switzerland and the UK. Part of the emotional energy during the 3-day event was hijacked by the environmental crisis looming large in our small group, with extremely early snow happening at my house Saturday morning, followed by an emergency evacuation for our Colorado attendee later that day, we were all taking time to be with each other in a more thoughtful way.

So although I am only announcing 12 trainees, a 13th is 2/3 of the way there to being officially completed, and we will work to make that happen when they are safe and ready and able to focus again.

Please join me in welcoming these newest Phase 2 trainees to the Brainspotting community (in no particular order): Julie Burke, Kara Serasis, Erika López, Angela Thompson, Danielle LeRiche-Forkey, Wookaja Yukako Chang, Katherine Beckett, Gloria Hood, Davi Stein-Kiley, Majjham Warenfeldt, Michael Finegan and Lindsay Elin.

And as always, none of this would be possible without the essential support of our Assistants. Amanda Perez as my navigator was spectacular. Grateful thanks go out to: Christine Genovese, Carolyn Robistow, Kimberly Ward, Sheryl Wookey, Kim Knowlton-Young, Nikki Batta, Kristen Swart, Cesilia Gonzalez and Mehwish Issa. The generosity of time and commitment is deeply felt and appreciated.

A Special Phase 1 Hosted by KUA is this June 21-23!

Brainspotting with Katherine Allen, LMFT Posted on March 10, 2019 by Katherine AllenMarch 19, 2020

This event is complete; you can no longer register for it.

I am very excited to announce the dates are set for the next Northern New England Phase 1 Training. And we are being hosted by the elite Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH! What a wonderful location, a spectacularly beautiful time of year to be in New England, and the amazing generosity of KUA offering extremely discounted lodging and meals as an option!

We will also be addressing the particular challenges that both adolescents and young adults face when away from home for what may be the first time, as well as the particular challenges that the front-liners face in being immersed in these emotional rollercoaster settings. Limbic countertransference will be addressed.

If you encounter adolescents or young adults in a school or college/university setting, this is one you don’t want to miss!

21 CEs available from R. Cassidy Seminars for $30, payable directly to them: https://www.academeca.com/CEUReg/SeminarInfo.aspx?seminarId=2385

For more information or to register, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

DRCC at UVM April 11, 2019.

Brainspotting with Katherine Allen, LMFT Posted on February 13, 2019 by Katherine AllenSeptember 18, 2020

I have been accepted as a presenter in this year’s Dismantling Rape Culture Conference at the University of Vermont on April 11, 2019.

I am proud to be a part of the healing aspect of the Conference for those impacted by sexual assaults and violence, introducing Brainspotting trauma healing therapy and educating how the brain receives and responds to threat and trauma. Brainspotting is uniquely suited to assist both the recipients of such assaults in their healing, and equally to assist the front-line caregivers in processing their limbic counter-transference in witnessing with such stories.

Please join me this April 11 at the 14th Annual DRCC at UVM! Bring colleagues and anyone whom may benefit from learning how to heal from these kinds of assaults. Registration opens on March 1, 2019.

Meet the latest Northern New England Brainspotting graduates!

Brainspotting with Katherine Allen, LMFT Posted on October 31, 2018 by Katherine AllenMarch 19, 2020

What a fabulous 3-days we had! A smaller group always ensures a deeper and more intimate training and learning experience. I was honored to work with some astoundingly talented colleagues for this very special training.

I am proud to introduce: Frances Belcher, Sara Degennaro, Stephanie Chesnut, Sheryl Wookey, Caryn McHose, Elisabeth Gardner, and Maria Bowen.

If I count correctly, this brings us up to 24 Brainspotting practitioners in NH/VT since January 2018!

Please let me know if there is interest in trainings in your area. And please reach out to these fabulous practitioners for you or your loved ones. Healing is possible!

We are now at 15 Brainspotting Practitioners!

Brainspotting with Katherine Allen, LMFT Posted on May 23, 2018 by Katherine AllenMarch 19, 2020

I continue to be amazed and humbled by how well both Brainspotting and I have been embraced by this new community I call home. When I arrived, there were no other BSP practitioners except for me. Now, as of May 20, we number 15!!

I am pleased to introduce both Lasell Bartlett (center in photo) and Dr. JoAnn Berns (second from right) to our growing community of providers!

Please, click through everyone’s links and see who may be the best fit for you and your needs. And I am here as a local Supervisor and leader for this growing community.

I am so proud to be here and to see the enthusiasm and growth of this very special and powerful healing tool.

We Did It! Introducing the “Mighty Hanover 9”

Brainspotting with Katherine Allen, LMFT Posted on May 8, 2018 by Katherine AllenNovember 2, 2022
The Mighty Hanover Nine!

The Mighty Hanover Nine!

We have officially completed New Hampshire’s first ever Brainspotting Phase 1 Training. We were graced with 9 attendees, all more lovely and talented than the next. So now our Upper Valley Brainspotting community has grown – from one (me) – to 13!

What an amazing, huge, healing 3 days. What these photos don’t show is the network of support that made it all possible. Thanks to Center for Integrative Health for offering your space to us, to Oracle/Dyn for the loan of 12 of your comfy rolling armchairs, to Shauna Hill, Kimberly Knowlton-Young and Ariel Cahn-Flores for your very, very important assistance with food, business logistics, grunt work, and adding the voice of the newly trained BSP practitioner to the process. Thanks most of all to Deborah Antinori – she soldiered on even though she was in pain, after spending a lovely 4.5 hours checking out the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital Emergency department.

I am grateful to have had my first co-trainer experience as well. I am ready for more!

Personally, the most impressive piece is Deb’s dedication not only to her commitments, to herself, to Brainspotting, to me, but to the Upper Valley and specifically to my new collegial group of truly talented and amazing therapists. I feel so privileged to be a part of this healing community and am humbled by your wisdom and depth.

If you are looking for Brainspotting sessions in the Upper Valley, in addition to those listed above, this is the list of the latest set of qualified therapists: Miriam R. Osofsky, Ph.D. in Lebanon, NH; Mary E. Young, LMHC in Hardwick, VT; Beth Demers, LMFT in WRJ, VT; Carla D. Hancock, LICSW in Montpelier, VT; Courtney L. Bohen, LICSW in WRJ, VT; Nick Doolittle, LICSW in Norwich, VT; Susanne Haseman, MEd, LCMHP, CEIP-MH in Cornish, NH; Claudia Henrion in East Thetford, VT and Tricia Long in Hyde Park, VT.
